As a pointed pen calligrapher who has been practicing since 2016 and studying under master penmen as an IAMPETH member, I have strong opinions about tools. I have always loved a great pencil almost as much as a great pen. There is something about the physical act of putting graphite or color on a page that feels different from ink, more forgiving, more exploratory, and sometimes exactly what a creative session calls for.
